A full team of Zimbabwean match officials has been selected to oversee upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures.
Referee Brighton Chimene will take charge of the Equatorial Guinea vs Liberia match on 13 October 2025 at the Estadio de Malabo, assisted by Luckson Mhara and Tafadzwa Nkala, with Lawrence Zimondi appointed as Fourth Official.
In a separate assignment, Zimbabwean referee assessor Sabelo Maphosa-Sibindi has been appointed to evaluate officials during the Women’s World Cup Qualifier between Cape Verde and Mali on 24 October in Cidade da Praia.
These appointments underscore Zimbabwe’s expanding influence in international football officiating, demonstrating the trust placed in local referees and assessors to manage critical matches on the global stage.
