Zimbabwe’s reigning champions, Simba Bhora, along with other teams participating in the 2025/26 CAF interclub tournaments, are set to benefit from a US\$100,000 grant for the preliminary stage.
CAF announced that the first legs of the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup preliminaries will take place between September 19 and 21, with the return fixtures scheduled for September 26 to 28.
Winners will advance to the group stage, which kicks off on November 21, 2025, followed by the knockout phase from March 13, 2026.
Simba Bhora will be Zimbabwe’s sole representative this season. South Africa has four teams in the competition — Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in the Champions League, while Kaizer Chiefs and Stellenbosch FC compete in the Confederation Cup.
The funding announcement came after the draw for the first and second preliminary rounds was held at Azam Media Studios in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
CAF stated that the financial support is intended to assist clubs with logistical expenses and to encourage participation, noting a record number of teams entered for this season
