Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – Young golf talents showcased their skills at the 2026 President’s Cup Juniors Tournament, held recently in Zimbabwe. The event highlighted the growing potential within the nation’s junior golf ranks and the foundational role of parental and coaching support in athlete development.
The tournament, which featured approximately 40 players from the Matabeleland Junior Golfers Association, saw impressive performances across various age categories. Blessmore Gandawa, President of the Zimbabwe Golf Association (ZGA), emphasized the tournament’s significance for the future of Zimbabwean golf.
“This is the future of golf. We need to continue supporting junior golfers so that one day they will carry our country’s flag on international stages,” Gandawa stated, underscoring the ZGA’s commitment to nurturing young talent.
In the 8–10 years category, Rose Musakasa delivered a standout performance, securing 22 points. She was followed by Ayanda Ndlovu with 17 points and C. Mnungwazi with 16 points.
The 11–14 years division witnessed a closely contested competition, with Isabella Rose emerging victorious with an impressive 26 points. B. Gondofiring claimed second place with 22 points, while A. Maisiri and C. Sigaule tied for third with 21 points each, demonstrating the depth of talent in this age group.
NetOne Cellular Pvt Ltd served as a corporate partner for the tournament, contributing to the event’s execution and the broader development of junior golf. Ernest Magadzire, Public Relations Manager for NetOne, acknowledged the dedication of the young participants and their families.
“At NetOne, we believe in young people and their dreams, you are already winners,” Magadzire commented, recognizing the efforts of the junior golfers. Regional Manager Gugulethu Ndlovu further noted the discipline and sportsmanship displayed by the athletes, attributing it to the support systems in place.
“As NetOne, we are proud to be part of this journey. We are not just building golfers; we are building confidence, character, and ambition,” Ndlovu added, highlighting the company’s involvement in youth development initiatives.
The 2026 President’s Cup Juniors Tournament reinforced the ZGA’s vision for a robust junior golf program, aiming to prepare young athletes for international competition. The collective efforts of parents, coaches, and supporting organizations are seen as crucial in paving the way for future Zimbabwean golf representatives on the global stage.
