Bulawayo, Zimbabwe – David Amm has clinched a decisive victory at the 2026 President’s Cup, held at the Bulawayo Country Club, in a tournament that not only showcased elite golfing talent but also underscored a powerful national drive to revolutionize the sport. His commanding performance, marked by unwavering consistency, saw him finish thirteen strokes under par, signaling a new benchmark for professional golf in Zimbabwe.
The second edition of this prestigious event, running from April 14-17, was more than just a competition; it was a strategic declaration. Backed by a substantial US$50,000 sponsorship from telecommunications giant NetOne, the tournament served as a vivid demonstration of a concerted effort by the Zimbabwe Professional Golfers Association (ZPGA) and the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture to dismantle golf’s elitist image and cultivate a new generation of champions.
D. Amm’s triumph was built on a foundation of precision, with rounds of 69, 67, and 67 culminating in an impressive overall score of 203. While Amm stood clear at the top, the battle for the runner-up position was nothing short of electrifying, with a three-way tie highlighting the depth of talent emerging in Zimbabwean golf.
