Tensions escalated after he failed to acquire a car from Sir Wicknell Chivayo, which he blamed on his wife, citing bad luck. Mai Dhuterere disputes this.
When approached for comment, Mambo Dhuterere declined to speak, while Mai Dhuterere expressed distress, citing concerns about her pregnancy and potential depression.
The situation allegedly worsened after Mai Dhuterere’s arrest and court appearance over a US$16,000 fraud case.
The couple had built a life together, including acquiring a residential stand in Harare, but their relationship appears to have unraveled.
