Carpe Diem Episode 3 proved to be a fitting and memorable way to celebrate Unity Day, offering a relaxed atmosphere, quality music and a carefully curated lineup of DJs that catered for diverse musical tastes. Hosted at the Old Hararians Sports Club, the event delivered on its promise of togetherness, good vibes and top-tier entertainment, reinforcing Carpe Diem’s growing reputation as one of Zimbabwe’s most appealing lifestyle music experiences.
The show began right on time at midday, in line with the advertised programme, setting a professional tone that was appreciated by early arrivals. As revellers slowly streamed into the venue, DJ Young Vibes took charge of the decks and warmed up the crowd with an engaging opening set. His performance created the perfect foundation for the day, hinting at the excitement that lay ahead and ensuring that the energy never dipped, even in the early hours.
One of the fresh additions to the Carpe Diem stage was DJ Goofie, whose set underlined the organisers’ commitment to discovering and promoting both emerging and established talent. His performance was well received, showcasing skill and confidence that suggested he was more than capable of holding his own on a big stage. He was followed by Reverb 7, widely regarded as one of the country’s finest DJs. Reverb 7 delivered a polished and dynamic set, blending local dancehall with Afrobeat flavours that kept the dancefloor alive and buzzing.
DJ Spunj, who has been part of the Carpe Diem journey for the past three years, once again demonstrated his growth and consistency. His ability to read the crowd and elevate the mood showed why he remains a trusted favourite, as he seamlessly guided the audience through an enjoyable musical experience.
The day’s proceedings were steered by MC DJ Moxinator from Star FM, whose presence added structure and charisma to the show. He introduced DJ Made Her Believe, a crowd favourite, particularly among the ladies. Opening his set with Tamia’s classic “So Into You,” he immediately struck an emotional chord. Over the course of an hour, he took listeners on a musical journey across eras and continents, blending international sounds with African rhythms in a way that felt smooth, intentional and deeply satisfying.
As the sun began to set, DJ Bantu took over the decks, much to the delight of the audience. Zimbabwe’s own internationally recognised producer and artist delivered a performance that reflected his global experience and creative depth. The crowd responded warmly, clearly proud to see local talent commanding the stage with such confidence and finesse.
South African stars Lamiez Holworthy and DJ Morda continued the momentum, both combining technical skill with vibrant stage presence. Lamiez, who previously impressed Zimbabwean audiences at the Jacaranda Music Festival, once again left a lasting impression, not only through her music but also her energetic dance moves. DJ Morda matched her enthusiasm, adding his own flair and personality to the performance.
Sun-El Musician and Dlala Thukzin also delivered solid sets, staying true to their roots by focusing exclusively on their own music and South African sounds. While some audience members noted the absence of local tracks in their playlists, the overall quality of their performances was undeniable. Thukzin, in particular, left fans wanting more after ending his set slightly ahead of time, prompting loud calls for an encore.
As the event drew to a close, DJ Moxinator promised an even bigger and better Carpe Diem Episode 4 in 2026. Judging by the success of this edition, there is little doubt that the next instalment could sell out quickly, potentially requiring a larger venue to accommodate its growing audience.
