Zimbabwean midfielder Andy Rinomhota has officially announced his departure from Cardiff City, closing the chapter on a three-year stay at the Championship side.
The club confirmed his exit over the weekend, revealing that Rinomhota turned down a contract extension, despite having a year remaining on his current agreement, which runs until June 30, 2025.
Taking to Instagram, the 27-year-old shared an emotional message with fans and the club community, offering gratitude and reflection on his time in South Wales.
“After three years, my time at Cardiff City has come to an end. It was a journey filled with highs, lows, and valuable lessons. Though not everything went as planned, I’m thankful for the growth and experiences,” he wrote.
“I leave with appreciation and respect for the club and its supporters. I wish Cardiff City the very best moving forward and hope they return to the level where they belong.”
Rinomhota made 84 appearances in all competitions during his time at the club, including 36 matches in the most recent campaign, which ended in disappointment with Cardiff’s relegation.

Despite a turbulent season, Rinomhota remained one of the more reliable figures in the squad, earning recognition for his work rate and professionalism.

Earlier this year, the midfielder was named Cardiff City’s Players’ Player of the Season, a reflection of the respect he commanded within the dressing room.
Now officially a free agent, Rinomhota’s next move is yet to be announced. With proven Championship experience and a growing international career with Zimbabwe, he’s expected to attract interest from clubs both in the UK and abroad.
