‘Together We Connected Hearts to Purpose’ – NetOne CEO Salutes Charity Golf Success

BULAWAYO, Zimbabwe – The inaugural NetOne-KIDZCAN Golf Tournament concluded recently, marking a significant event that transcended the greens to champion a noble cause: supporting children battling cancer. Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, Group Chief Executive Officer of NetOne, delivered a poignant speech highlighting the tournament’s deeper meaning beyond sportsmanship.

Addressing distinguished guests, partners, and golfers, Engineer Mushanawani emphasized that the tournament was
not merely about golf, but about “giving hope to children battling cancer,” “standing with families facing one of life’s most difficult challenges,” and “demonstrating the power of compassion and collective action.”

Throughout the day, every swing and putt carried a profound significance, transforming each participant, partner, and supporter into an integral part of a shared mission to positively impact the lives of children and families assisted by KIDZCAN. Engineer Mushanawani acknowledged the immense courage, resilience, and determination of these young heroes, stating, “Their strength reminds us that hope remains powerful even in the most difficult circumstances.”

NetOne commended KIDZCAN for its exceptional work in advocating for, treating, raising awareness about, and caring for children affected by cancer across Zimbabwe. The CEO reiterated NetOne’s belief that connectivity extends beyond technology, encompassing the connection of communities to opportunities, partnerships to purpose, and people to hope. This ethos was vividly demonstrated by the convergence of businesses, institutions, individuals, and partners in support of this worthy cause.

The spirit of partnership at the tournament aligns with the vision of the Second Republic, led by His Excellency, President Cde Dr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa. The President’s people-centred development agenda, articulated through Vision 2030 and the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), prioritizes improved healthcare, social protection, and inclusive development, ensuring that no one is left behind. As a responsible corporate citizen, NetOne is dedicated to supporting this national vision through initiatives focused on community development, healthcare, education, and empowerment.

Engineer Mushanawani drew parallels between the lessons learned from golf—patience, discipline, focus, and perseverance—and the qualities exhibited by the brave children supported by KIDZCAN. He concluded by emphasizing that the true success of the tournament was not found on the leaderboard, but “in the lives that will be touched, the awareness that has been created and the hope that has been strengthened.”

He extended heartfelt appreciation to KIDZCAN, sponsors, partners, organizers, participants, and supporters for their generosity and commitment, which he stated would leave a lasting impact. “Together, we have demonstrated that when we unite behind a worthy cause, we can make a meaningful difference,” he affirmed, concluding with the powerful message: “Together, we have connected hearts to a purpose. Together, we have connected communities to hope. And together, we have taken another step towards building a healthier and more prosperous Zimbabwe.”
