Rhulani Mokwena Eyed by Egyptian Giants Pyramids FC Amidst North African Challenge

Rhulani Mokwena, a prominent figure in North African football, is reportedly a leading candidate for the vacant coaching position at Egyptian powerhouse Pyramids FC. This potential move signifies another significant challenge for the 39-year-old tactician, who continues to be highly regarded across the continent despite a recent challenging period with Libyan side Al Ittihad SC. Discussions regarding his future at Al Ittihad are currently ongoing.

Sources indicate that Pyramids FC has included the former coach of Mamelodi Sundowns and Wydad Athletic Club on their shortlist as they seek a new technical leader. The Cairo-based club is reportedly looking for an experienced coach who can elevate their performance and challenge the long-standing dominance of Egyptian football giants Al Ahly and Zamalek.

Insiders close to the situation have reportedly confirmed Mokwena’s name is among the preferred options under consideration by the club. While talks are still in their preliminary stages, the interest is understood to be genuine, as Pyramids FC aims to secure a coach capable of delivering success both domestically and on the continental stage.

Mokwena joined Al Ittihad in March, following a period where he had established himself as one of Africa’s most promising young coaches. His arrival in Libya came after a successful tenure at MC Alger, where he led the Algerian club to Super Cup victory and narrowly missed out on securing the league title.
