Police Hunt for Bonda Girls High School Teacher Following Misconduct Allegations

MUTASA DISTRICT, Zimbabwe — Authorities are searching for a teacher from Bonda Girls High School in Manicaland after he reportedly went into hiding following accusations of sexual misconduct with a student. The incident came to light through an internal school report detailing a breach of professional and legal standards.

The situation unfolded on the night of June 24 when school security received a tip regarding a student entering a staff member’s private vehicle. Surveillance led security personnel to the teacher’s residence, where they observed the student exiting the premises and returning to the car. Security intercepted the vehicle shortly thereafter.

Upon discovery, the student was placed under protective care and brought to the headmaster’s office for a statement. However, the accused educator managed to evade questioning and fled the scene before authorities could intervene. He currently remains at large, and a formal criminal investigation has been launched by the police.

The school administration characterized the teacher’s alleged actions as a “serious violation” of child safeguarding policies and national law. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education is expected to move forward with permanent deregistration of the teacher as the police continue their search.

Bonda Girls High School has reaffirmed its commitment to student safety, emphasizing that counseling services and security measures are being bolstered to prevent future occurrences.
