President Emmerson Mnangagwa has reiterated his stance against corruption and indiscipline within ZANU PF, warning party officials that any conduct which tarnishes the ruling party’s image or alienates it from the people will not be tolerated.
Speaking on Monday, Mnangagwa said integrity, discipline, and accountability must remain at the core of ZANU PF’s values if the party is to maintain the trust of citizens and secure future electoral victories.
“Corruption of any kind and excesses that alienate us from the people can never be condoned,” he declared. “Integrity, discipline and unity, concern for the people and clean governance must be synonymous with ZANU PF.”
He reminded party members that the ZANU PF Constitution places a responsibility on all cadres and structures to uphold the highest standards of conduct and to safeguard the party’s reputation.
“As provided for in our Party Constitution, we have a duty to boldly and decisively deal with those who put the name of the Party into disrepute,” Mnangagwa said, stressing that decisive action would be taken against errant members.
The President further urged party officials to focus on winning public confidence through service delivery and grassroots engagement, noting that the ruling party’s legitimacy rests on its ability to remain connected to the needs of citizens.
“Winning the hearts and minds of our people remains a critical role of every cadre and structure of the Party,” he said.
Mnangagwa’s remarks come at a time of mounting scrutiny on senior party officials, with critics and civic groups repeatedly accusing the ruling party of protecting business and political elites implicated in corruption.
By warning against excesses and calling for clean governance, the President sought to reinforce his image as a reformist within the party while also urging discipline as ZANU PF prepares for upcoming political contests.
