Warriors forward Tino Kadewere disrupted the national team’s training session at Orlando Stadium on Monday after an explosive confrontation with a female journalist.
Witnesses said the striker stormed across the pitch during coach Michael Nees’ final drills ahead of Tuesday’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
Kadewere is alleged to have poked the journalist in the chest and threatened her, prompting ZIFA officials to intervene and restrain him.
The journalist, visibly shaken, asked for clarity on his anger, but Kadewere instead warned her against remaining at the stadium after training and reportedly insulted her appearance.
Sources revealed the altercation stemmed from his frustration over recent negative press about his form and continued selection in the squad.
Although he was compelled to apologise immediately, the apology was seen as insincere.
The incident has sparked condemnation, with journalist associations demanding a formal apology from both ZIFA and the player, warning that such conduct damages the reputation of the team and the country.
