Four high-ranking officials from the Hurungwe Rural District Council and their accomplice have been brought before the courts, facing a slew of charges including fraud and money laundering.
The Harare High Court (Anti- Corruption Court) remanded the quintet in custody in a case involgving over USD 47 000.
Court records state that Luke Kalavina- Chief executive officer, Romeo Tapiwa Mupamaonde-Engineer, Alfred Makama- Assistant Engineer, Alfred Matiza-Director and Marloshac Investments private limited.
NPA said Marloshac is the corporate entity used to siphon the money.

“The allegations are that the accused persons falsely submitted that Marloshac investments will built the Kaspiriki Causeway bridge, while the actual builder, Kainos Mupiwa, was never paid for the job.
“USD 18 800 was fraudulently paid to Marloshac Investments and shared amongst the accused.
“They also diverted plumbing funds worth USD 3 889.75, which had been procured for Chiedza clinic, to personal projects despite the clinic’s need for urgent repairs,” said NPA.
As if not enough, the fraudsters claimed they built ablution facilities with a cash value of USD 6 075.37.
“They went to procure building materials materials USD 8 501.09 for the council from Bels Trade.
“A company owned by one of the accused persons.
“The building material was never delivered. The total prejudice to council stands at USD 47 266.21, with nothing recovered.
