Bhuru Energy Manufacturers Demand Apology Over “Unregistered” Allegations

Mhazi Two Six Three (Private) Limited, the company behind the Bhuru Energy Drink brand, has initiated legal action against a local media house, demanding a formal retraction and apology over an article alleging the company is unregistered and selling illegal substances.

The firm, represented by TK Takaindisa Law Chambers, has categorized the report as a malicious attack on its corporate reputation.

Legal Compliance and Standards

In a letter of demand addressed to the publication, the legal team dismissed claims that the energy drink is an unlicensed “sex enhancement drug,” asserting that the product is a legitimate beverage fully compliant with Zimbabwean law.

“Our Client, Mhazi Two Six Three Trading (Pvt) Ltd t/a Bhuru International, is a duly registered private limited company incorporated in accordance with the laws of Zimbabwe,” the lawyers stated. “Bhuru Energy Drink… is not an illegal sex enhancement drug and is fully compliant with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements.”

The company further clarified that its manufacturing processes are strictly monitored, adhering to the safety and quality benchmarks set by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) and other statutory bodies.

Threat of Defamation Lawsuit

The legal notice highlights that the “false and defamatory” statements have inflicted significant harm on the brand’s market standing. To mitigate this, the company has issued a 48-hour ultimatum for the publication to:

• Issue an unqualified retraction of the January 22, 2026, story.

• Publish a prominent apology in both print and digital formats expressing regret for the misinformation.

The lawyers warned that failure to meet these demands would result in a lawsuit for defamation and a claim for financial compensation regarding lost business opportunities. Bhuru International maintains that it remains a law-abiding corporate citizen committed to transparency and consumer safety.
