A 12-year-old girl was abducted from Sally Mugabe Central Hospital over the weekend, with her kidnappers now demanding a ransom of US\$2,000.
According to police, the child had been left in the hospital canteen by her grandmother, Viola Kutama — a nurse aide — who went to attend to patients. When she returned, the girl was gone.
Shortly after, Kutama received a chilling message stating that the child had been taken and that the abductors wanted payment for her release.
Harare police confirmed they are investigating the incident, and efforts to locate the child are ongoing.
