Amidst a flurry of unsubstantiated social media speculation, an internal source at NetOne has definitively clarified the status of Chief Executive Officer Engineer Raphael Mushanawani, confirming he is on approved annual leave and is expected to resume duties as scheduled.
John Mayambo, NetOne’s Business Strategy Performance Executive, addressed the burgeoning online chatter directly when approached by an independent journalist. Mayambo firmly refuted claims suggesting Mushanawani had been placed on forced leave or that his return to the telecommunications giant was uncertain.
“This is just speculation,” Mayambo stated unequivocally. “The CEO is on approved annual leave from July 13 to August 13. He is enjoying his time off, and he will resume duty on August 13. There is nothing forced about this—it’s routine annual leave processed through normal channels.”
The clarification comes in response to a wave of social media allegations implying that Mushanawani’s absence was involuntary and potentially permanent—rumors that the source characterized as baseless and potentially damaging to the executive’s professional standing.
In line with standard administrative protocols, Mayambo confirmed that Chief Technology Officer Christopher Muchechemere has been appointed Acting Group CEO for the duration of Mushanawani’s absence.
Notably, NetOne has yet to issue any official communication on the matter through its corporate public relations channels, leaving the initial clarification to internal sources responding to media inquiries.
