HARARE, Zimbabwe – A new digital frontier is opening for local commerce with the development of ZimAIO Mall, an innovative online platform designed to streamline the way goods and services are exchanged across the country.
Founded by CEO Mohamed Akram Ibrahim, the venture was inspired by the current fragmented state of digital trade in Zimbabwe. While social media platforms like WhatsApp and Facebook have become the de facto hubs for local trade, Ibrahim noted a distinct lack of a centralized, professional ecosystem tailored specifically for the Zimbabwean market.
Bridging the Gap for Small Businesses
Currently, many small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) struggle with the informal nature of social media selling, which often lacks integrated payment security and logistics support. On the other hand, consumers frequently cite a lack of trust when transacting through informal channels.
ZimAIO aims to bridge this divide by unifying vendors, secure payment gateways, and reliable delivery networks under one digital roof.
“Through the platform, small businesses will be able to open online stores, receive secure payments, and manage their sales more easily,” Ibrahim explained. “This will help even small traders sell their products professionally online.”
For the everyday consumer, ZimAIO Mall promises a more transparent shopping journey. Users will be able to browse verified vendors, utilize familiar local payment methods, and enjoy real-time delivery tracking—features often missing from casual online deals.
Looking ahead, Ibrahim envisions the mall expanding its reach across all major cities, with plans to introduce advanced digital tools to further empower the local economy.
“The main goal is to make it easier for any Zimbabwean business, big or small, to sell products online and grow in the digital economy,” he added.
As the platform nears its official launch, ZimAIO Mall is currently inviting vendors to join the digital revolution. The first 100 businesses to register will benefit from a special introductory offer: three months of free product listing.
