Sengezo Tshabangu, who was recently expelled by Welshman Ncube, has dismissed claims that he was ever a member of Ncube’s CCC faction. He now faces the possibility of being recalled.
Referencing the party’s constitution, Tshabangu argued that the CCC leadership’s mandate expired on May 27, 2024, meaning the party no longer has a legitimate president.
His spokesperson, Nqobizitha Mlilo, reinforced this position, stating, “Senator Tshabangu has never been affiliated with CCC-Green. Records confirm he was neither nominated nor deployed to Parliament by CCC-Green or any of its officials, including the embattled Ncube.”
Mlilo further stressed that Tshabangu had never participated in CCC-Green structures, making his expulsion invalid. He pointed to ongoing court cases between Ncube and Tshabangu since October 3, 2024, as proof that they belong to separate CCC factions.
Additionally, he accused Ncube of maneuvering to take control of party funds under the Political Parties (Finance) Act, alleging that CCC-Green, largely composed of former MDC-Green members, became active in the courts and media after October 3, 2024, when Ncube and his allies began targeting party finances.
