Themba Gorimbo Praises Winky D in Public Turnaround, Calls Him a Voice for the Youth

MMA fighter Themba Gorimbo has taken to social media to express admiration for celebrated Zimdancehall icon Winky D, in what many have described as a notable change of heart.

Gorimbo, who once faced backlash for making light of the musician, appears to have reconsidered his stance. In a candid Facebook post, he praised Winky D’s bravery and influence, referring to him as a “truth-teller” and “leader of the youth.”

Reflecting on his earlier comments, Gorimbo acknowledged that he had previously mocked Winky D, but now recognizes that those remarks were misguided.

“I respect this guy in the entertainment industry,” Gorimbo wrote. “Zero fear, 100% courage. I once made a joke that was out of line—hameno zvanga zvandipindawo 😂. But honestly, I respect this gentleman. Big man. Real speaker of the truth. Leader of the youth.”

His remarks quickly went viral, striking a chord with fans of both the fighter and the artist

Gorimbo also revealed his personal aspirations, stating that before claiming a UFC title, he wants to be known as the “people’s champion”—someone unafraid to speak difficult truths.

“I aspire to be the people’s champion before being UFC champion. Speak what’s on everyone’s mind. Speak what they fear,” he said.
