Ten Chinese nationals recently appeared before the Harare Magistrates Court for their initial remand hearing after being apprehended during a police drug raid at a local lodge.
The individuals charged include: Huang Zhen (39), You Hefe (35), Song Yunmel (27), Yuang Wanwan (29), Wu Yuejun (46), Yang Qin (29), Fan Yue (36), Sun Jie (36), Yao Wenming (40), and Li Zhongju (31).
According to the prosecution, law enforcement officers acted on a tip-off about ongoing parties at a property located at 60 Knightsbridge Road in Newlands, Harare. Upon raiding the premises, authorities allegedly discovered the group in possession of — and using — illegal substances such as cocaine, benzodiazepines, and methamphetamine.
In a public statement, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) emphasized the serious implications of drug-related offenses, stating that substance abuse contributes to criminal behavior and negatively impacts communities.
“The justice system will respond decisively to individuals involved in the distribution or consumption of harmful drugs in Zimbabwe,” the NPAZ said.
