Socialite “Enchantress” Accused of Witchcraft by Former Friends

 Popular socialite and video vixen Natalie Mhandu, widely known by her alias Enchantress, is at the centre of a bizarre criminal case after two women—reportedly her former friends—filed a police report accusing her of engaging in witchcraft.

According to sources close to the investigation, Mhandu was recently summoned to Glen View Police Station for questioning. While earlier claims indicated she had been detained overnight, authorities later clarified that she was released into the custody of her legal team, given the non-serious nature of the offence and her confirmed residential address.

The case, which has raised eyebrows in both social and legal circles, could potentially be brought before the courts. If proceedings begin, all parties are expected to attend from their respective homes.

Insiders suggest the dispute may be rooted in a romantic fallout, with a suspected love triangle involving a shared partner triggering tensions between Mhandu and the complainants. The allegations escalated after Mhandu reportedly parted ways with her domestic worker, who later contacted the two women with claims of ritual activity.

Reports allege that the former maid led the complainants to Pension Farm in Glen View, where they allegedly discovered a red cloth and a knife, which they say bore their names—evidence they believe links Mhandu to acts of sorcery.

Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the ongoing investigation but said details remain limited.

“Police are investigating a case involving allegations of witchcraft among individuals who were once friends. More information will be shared as inquiries progress,” said Inspector Chakanza.

The matter is being examined under Section 98 of Zimbabwe’s Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, which pertains to witchcraft-related conduct. This section penalizes any actions commonly associated with witchcraft, especially when performed with intent to cause harm or fear. If convicted, offenders may face a fine (up to level ten), imprisonment of up to five years, or both.

However, the law also stipulates that spoken or written words alone do not amount to witchcraft unless accompanied by physical conduct traditionally linked to such practices. Individuals who assist in such acts—by offering guidance or providing items—can also be prosecuted.

Furthermore, legal proceedings involving witchcraft require testimony from individuals with relevant cultural expertise to establish whether the alleged conduct fits the traditional definitions.

An audio recording believed to be of a phone call between Mhandu and the two complainants surfaced on social media yesterday. In the clip, the woman believed to be Mhandu firmly denies the accusations, claiming that the former maid fabricated the story to damage her reputation.

As the case continues to unfold, Mhandu has not yet publicly commented beyond the alleged recording.
