Shoko Festival 2025 Announces Mash Up Nights for 15th Edition

Zimbabwe’s premier urban culture festival, Shoko Festival, has unveiled plans for its highly anticipated Mash Up Nights, part of the landmark 15th edition, scheduled for Friday, 26 September 2025, at Harare Gardens.

Headlining the event is legendary producer Take Fizzo, celebrated for his pivotal role in shaping Zimbabwe’s contemporary music landscape. Festival-goers can expect a dynamic performance featuring his greatest hits, iconic productions, and a nostalgic journey through the evolution of Zimbabwean urban music.

Take Fizzo will be joined by urban grooves pioneers Mafriq and Trinity, artists recognized for laying the foundations of the genre and contributing some of the country’s most memorable musical moments.

Shoko Festival Coordinator Vera Chisvo said, “Take Fizzo represents an era that set the stage for modern Zimbabwean music. His performance is a fitting way to celebrate 15 years of Shoko Festival’s dedication to urban culture and hip-hop.”

In addition to the live performances, the festival will feature Mashoko Tapes, returning for its second edition. The music residency program brings together Mash Up Nights performers to collaborate on an original album, encouraging artistic experimentation and cross-genre collaboration.

This year’s Mashoko Tapes lineup includes:

Segulm, Afro-visionary known for his album First of Season;

Briza from Bulawayo, noted for his commanding stage presence and authentic storytelling;

Paintafresco, multi-disciplinary artist and 2024 Zim Hip-Hop Awards nominee;

Yadis, a rising female hip-hop artist with her debut mixtape Ndakusasa Mixtape;

Enhle, a neo-soul and RnB performer.

These artists will work together to create fresh tracks that reflect Zimbabwe’s evolving urban music scene, reinforcing Mashoko Tapes’ mission to nurture collaboration and innovation.

The 2025 Mash Up Nights carry the theme #TheLegacyXV, celebrating 15 years of Shoko Festival’s influence in music, art, and youth culture.
