Scottland FC Coach Ndiraya Optimistic About Strong Second-Half Push

Scottland FC head coach Tonderai Ndiraya has expressed confidence in his team’s progress during the first half of the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season, saying the squad is steadily building momentum and will only improve as the campaign continues.

The side currently sits in fourth place with 27 points from 17 matches, though their final tally could change depending on the outcome of a pending disciplinary ruling. One of their fixtures remains unresolved after Chicken Inn FC players walked off the pitch, protesting a late penalty awarded to Scottland.

A Premier Soccer League disciplinary committee, chaired by Doreen Gapare and including Wellington Magaya, Thomas Nyawo, and Memory Mukapa, is set to deliberate on the incident this Thursday.

Reflecting on the season so far, Ndiraya—who led Simba Bhora to the league title last year—praised his squad for their growth and cohesion, particularly given that many of the players came from different backgrounds and systems.

“At the beginning, we didn’t have a fully gelled team. The players were still trying to understand each other,” he said. “But from around match-day nine, the team really began to click.”

Ndiraya noted that while the squad has faced challenges—such as missed chances and occasional lapses in concentration—he is satisfied with their performance under the circumstances.

“To have 27 points at this stage is something we’re proud of. Considering the external pressures and expectations, the players have held up very well.”

Next up for Scottland is a crucial clash against Triangle United, now under the leadership of former Dynamos coach Genesis Mangombe. Triangle have been showing significant signs of improvement under their new boss and recently demolished GreenFuel 5-1.

Although Triangle remains in 15th place, their performances suggest a resurgence. Ndiraya acknowledges the challenge ahead.

“They’ve found their rhythm and are no longer easy opponents,” he said. “We beat them narrowly on the opening day, but they’re a different side now. We’ll have to be at our best to secure all three points.”

As Scottland continues to chase a top finish, Ndiraya emphasized the importance of mentality and consistency, especially against teams fighting to avoid relegation.
