HARARE — Representatives of OrganiCare have dismissed allegations made by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) that Tonee Tapiwa Vambe was a runaway suspect, describing the claims as false and misleading.
The ZRP reportedly announced on Saturday, 16 May 2026, that Vambe, who represents the organisation, was being sought in connection with a case. However, Vambe maintains that he was never on the run and had only been summoned to report to Harare Central Police Station on Monday evening, 18 May 2026.
According to information released by OrganiCare, Vambe complied with the police directive and appeared at Harare Central Police Station on the morning of Tuesday, 19 May 2026, accompanied by his legal counsel. He later appeared in court facing charges under the Medicines Act before being granted free bail.
In a statement, Vambe said he remains a law-abiding citizen and would not evade law enforcement authorities. He added that OrganiCare is a fully registered organisation that operates in compliance with the country’s regulatory requirements.
“We are committed to addressing the matter through the proper legal channels and in accordance with the law,” he said.
Vambe also rejected several reports published about him and the organisation, claiming they were defamatory and intended to damage both his reputation and that of OrganiCare. He further alleged that the dispute could be linked to business rivalry, accusing competitors of influencing events surrounding the matter.
The controversy also includes allegations that groundnut shells, commonly referred to as “makoko enzungu,” were used in medicines linked to OrganiCare. Vambe strongly denied the claims, describing them as false and misleading.
He further indicated that a complaint would be lodged against the ZRP over the alleged unlawful seizure of exhibits from OrganiCare and what he described as an arrest conducted without proper due diligence.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police had not yet publicly responded to the latest allegations at the time of publication.
