Ngwenya Shines with a Brace as Amazulu Edge Golden Arrows in 5-Goal Thriller

Zimbabwean forward Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya delivered a standout performance for South Africa’s Amazulu FC, scoring twice to help his team secure a 3-2 win over Golden Arrows in the KZN Premiership Cup.

The victory was crucial for Amazulu, who now advance to the tournament final, where they will face either Durban City or Milford FC.

Saturday’s semi-final clash was action-packed from the outset. Amazulu broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, only for Golden Arrows to hit back four minutes later, leveling the score at 1-1.

Ngwenya reclaimed the lead for Amazulu in the 27th minute, but the advantage was short-lived once again, as Siyanda Mhlanti netted for Arrows in the 37th minute to tie it at 2-2.

Undeterred, Ngwenya struck again just before the halftime whistle, sealing his brace and sending Amazulu into the break with a narrow 3-2 lead.

The second half saw fewer highlights, with both sides rotating their squads and experimenting with tactics typical of a pre-season fixture. Despite the lack of goals in the final 45 minutes, Ngwenya’s impact was undeniable.

The Zimbabwean striker’s efforts earned him the Player of the Match accolade, marking an impressive start to his stint at Amazulu following his recent signing earlier this month.
