Manica Diamonds Coach Jairos Tapera Placed on Forced Leave Amid Poor Run

Manica Diamonds head coach Jairos Tapera has been placed on forced leave as the club grapples with a series of underwhelming performances in the league.

Sources close to the club revealed that the move is largely procedural, designed to navigate employment contract obligations. It’s understood that the veteran coach may ultimately be moved into a different role within the club, one that distances him from the day-to-day management of the first team.

Club chairman Masimba Chihowa confirmed the development, stating that Tapera’s assistant, Tafadzwa Mashiri, will take over in the interim.

“Yes, I can confirm that Jairos Tapera has been sent on forced leave. Tafadzwa Mashiri will assume coaching responsibilities for now,” Chihowa said.

“This is a period for reflection — a chance to reassess and find ways to improve the club’s fortunes. Everyone connected to Manica Diamonds is disappointed with the current form, and it became clear that action was needed to steer the team in a better direction,” he added.

The decision follows mounting pressure from fans and stakeholders frustrated by the club’s failure to deliver consistent results this season.
