Man Catches Wife in Bed with Lover, Faces Blackmail from Both
A man who caught his wife in bed with her lover is facing blackmail from both parties—his wife is threatening to consume rat poison if he informs her parents, while her lover is demanding payment to keep silent.
Patrick Nyamana claims his wife, Gladys Kupukai, and her boyfriend are manipulating him after he discovered their affair in the couple’s bedroom. He also alleges that Gladys is now disputing his paternity over their children.
Seeking relief, Patrick approached the Harare Civil Court for a protection order.
“I caught her in bed with another man,” he stated. “When I confronted her, she drank rat poison and said I would be responsible for her death. I rushed her to the hospital, and she survived. Now, she’s threatening to do it again if I don’t pay her boyfriend.”
He further accused Gladys of harassment, saying, “She insults me for failing to provide for the children, knowing well that I am unemployed. I have no peace, which is why I am seeking the court’s protection.”
In response, Gladys admitted to her actions, justifying them by saying, “I took the poison because my husband has been unemployed for months. I had no choice but to engage in an affair to support my children. I only threatened him because he wanted to inform my parents.”
She also revealed that her lover demanded money from Patrick to keep quiet about the affair.
Magistrate Meenal Naratam, expressing concern over Gladys’ conduct, ruled in favor of Patrick and granted him a protection order.
