Liverpool Forward Diogo Jota Reportedly Dies in Car Accident in Spain

Portuguese footballer and Liverpool star Diogo Jota has reportedly died in a car crash in northwestern Spain, according to early reports from local media.

The tragic incident is said to have occurred near Zamora, on the A-52 RĂas Bajas Highway, close to Palacios de Sanabria, during the early hours of Thursday morning.

According to Spanish news agency EFE, Jota’s younger brother, Andre Jota, was also killed in the crash. Local outlet El Mundo reported that the vehicle veered off the road and caught fire at approximately 12:40 a.m., while traveling in the direction of Benavente.

The devastating news comes just ten days after Diogo Jota’s wedding, which he had celebrated and shared online with fans and followers.

Jota, 28, joined Liverpool from Wolverhampton Wanderers in September 2020 for a transfer fee of over £40 million. His brother Andre, aged 26, was also a professional footballer, playing for Penafiel, a team in Portugal’s second division.

Further details about the crash are still emerging. This is a developing story, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
