A Mzansi Express bus traveling to Zimbabwe was involved in a deadly accident early Tuesday morning on the N1 highway near Musina, South Africa.
According to preliminary reports, the bus had left Johannesburg and was en route to Zimbabwe when it struck a stationary pick-up truck.
The impact caused the bus to drift into the opposite lane, where it grazed a haulage truck’s trailer. The haulage driver reportedly swerved to avoid a direct collision.
The crash caused severe damage to the right side of the bus, with several injuries and fatalities reported, although full details are still being confirmed.
Eyewitness accounts claim the parked pick-up truck had no hazard lights or warning signs, leaving the bus driver with little time to react to the obstruction.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident, including possible negligence related to road safety compliance.
