Government through the Ministry of Primary and Education Secondary has cautiously told Bulawayo Mayor Senator David Coltart that it has threw its weight on Zimbabwe Cricket in the sports body’s noble objectives of attaining the country’s Vision 2030 of a healthy education populace through sport.
Senator David Coltart, over that past months has waged a war against the Zimbabwe Cricket.
Through social platforms and press Senator Coltart has accused the current leadership of ZC as racists and neglecting grass-roots promotion in primary and secondary schools dotted around the country.

further fingered the current ZC leadership to be behind a ring behind racism, tribalism and nepotism within the sport.
ZC President Tavengwa Mukuhlani broke his silence, defending his administration and lashing out at critics.
He revealed that his current leadership was in an aggressive drive to resuscitate cricket around the country.
“ZC is not a bank. What we guarantee the nation is that we working around the clock to bring to the sport back. So financially we cannot be everywhere.
“ZC has projects underway in both rural and urban areas, so we are making a step everyday,” said ZC Boss Muhuhlani.
He said allegations raised by the Senator were now before the Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC).
Parent Ministry of Education Spokesperson Taungana Ndoro dispelled reports of racism, tribalism and nepotism in the country’s sports sector.
In cricket he said Government has always had a lucrative relationship with ZC.
In a recent statement Senator Coltart blasted ZC leadership saying they are currently sitting on funds to develop cricket grassroots level countrywide in particular Bulawayo and Harare.
Responding to this Mukuhlani said,” I believe that patriotism is not defined by criticising those you do not agree with.
“It is unfortunate that his definition of patriotism is the amount of criticism he gives for what he believes is not right.”
