Two-Year-Old Dies After Steaming Accident in Beatrice
A two-year-old boy tragically passed away last Friday after sustaining severe burns during a home steaming session meant to treat a cold.
According to Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) national spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the incident occurred at Fresney Farm in Beatrice on August 15, 2025.
“The child was with his mother under a blanket while steaming with hot water and zumbani when the accident happened,” Nyathi explained.
The toddler reportedly grabbed a plastic container filled with boiling water, which then spilled onto his body, resulting in burns to his neck and right side.
He was quickly taken to Beatrice Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
