Harare – Zimbabwean music producer and artist St Emmo, born Emmerson Mnangagwa Jr., has released his highly anticipated third studio project titled The Producer’s Album 2—a genre-blending body of work that showcases a fusion of veteran artists and emerging voices.
The album was launched on Friday, 27 June 2025, following three years of creative development. Speaking at the release event, St Emmo—who is the son of President Emmerson Mnangagwa—described the album as his most collaborative and dynamic work to date.
“This project is important to me not only because it’s my third album but also because it took three years to complete. It features a wide range of Zimbabwean artists, from the established to the up-and-coming,” he shared in an interview with ZBC News.
The 15-track album includes contributions from major names like Jah Prayzah, Gemma Griffiths, Sylent Nqo, and Josh Meck, offering listeners a rich mix of sound and style.
But St Emmo made it clear that spotlighting lesser-known talent was just as important.
“We’ve also got fresh voices on this album—people like Carlo, a skilled guitarist and singer, Zherklin, whose real name is Jackie, Jay Afrik, and a young rapper from Chegutu named Stan C,” he noted.
Other featured artists include Nutty O, Shinsoman, and Poptain, reflecting St Emmo’s ongoing commitment to cross-genre collaborations.
This isn’t St Emmo’s first digital-first release. In 2018, he made headlines for exclusively releasing his second album Abstractica online in an effort to combat piracy and maintain control over his work.
“I didn’t want to print CDs and put them on the streets,” he told The Standard at the time. “I put time into this music, and I want to be compensated fairly for my art.”
His emphasis on artistic value and originality remains a cornerstone of his musical identity.
“If I don’t respect my own work, I can’t expect others to,” he added.

“These tracks are already getting great feedback. Especially for those who enjoy dancehall and reggae vibes—there’s definitely a summer feel to the album,” said St Emmo.
Musically, The Producer’s Album 2 continues his exploration of diverse genres, combining Afrobeats, Alternative, Hip-Hop, Pop, Jazz Hip-Hop, and New Age influences—true to his philosophy that music should be a reflection of emotion, not confined by rules.
“When I create, I’m expressing how I felt at that moment. It’s art without limitations,” he previously explained.
Despite his high-profile family ties, St Emmo has consistently emphasized that his music stands on its own merits.
“I want my work to speak for itself. If people enjoy it, great. If they don’t, that’s also fine—but it shouldn’t be judged based on who my father is,” he said in 2018.
With this latest release, St Emmo continues to build a distinct musical identity while promising even more collaborations in the near future. A major live performance may also be on the horizon, though details are yet to be announced.
