Prophet Emmanuel Makandiwa, the founder of United Family International Church (UFIC), remains a central figure in Zimbabwe’s Pentecostal movement. Known for his prophetic messages, healing services, and leadership, he has built a strong following both locally and internationally.
A groundbreaking competition offering a grand prize of US$1 million aimed to highlight authentic prophetic abilities and spiritual insight. However, as the event unfolded, Prophet Makandiwa made a shocking revelation—several participants were impostors using deceptive tactics to compete.
In a firm statement, he asserted, “No one can find anything in my pocket,” emphasizing his commitment to transparency and integrity. He stressed that genuine prophets do not rely on trickery to gain recognition.
Beyond exposing fraudulent contestants, Makandiwa also condemned the greed surrounding the competition. He pointed out that the focus should have been on faith and divine gifts rather than financial gain.
His revelation sparked heated reactions from the public. Some praised him for exposing deception, while others expressed disappointment over the controversy. Social media was abuzz with a mix of support and disbelief:
- Mdara Dziva:
- “Unonzwasei wakudzokera kusangano rako wakanodyiwa kumakwikwi.”
- Vigilant Chigora: “Imagine neni ndinorapwa ndege ndiine confafa yekuti ndinoporeswa zvakaoma.”
- Walter Panashe Madimutsa: “Heeee nyuga what what.”
- Bellz Chax: “Kuonesa vanhu magic, hazvina Mwari mukati izvi.”
- Mufaro Mhizha: “Vanamatirirei vese vatendeuke vapinde UFIC.”
- Vongai Ruvara: “Yeah zvakaoma hazvo.”
- Martin Murimi: “Million yaenda ere.”
- Imani Msekiwa: “Fair and very transparent.”
- Joy Dembetembe: “Unenge uchizviti ndiri prophet vana vako vesangano vachiona kuti hauna kuonaa.”
While the competition did not conclude with a clear winner, it ignited a broader discussion on false prophecy and the dangers of materialism in spiritual circles. Prophet Makandiwa’s stance has reinforced the importance of authenticity and faith in religious leadership.
