The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested Constable Nomore Muradzikwa in connection with the fatal shooting of Detective Constable Cassandra Hove.
Hove was killed during an armed confrontation in Bulawayo’s Pumula South suburb on March 6, 2025.
Muradzikwa, who is stationed at Hillside Police Station in Bulawayo, was taken into custody on Monday and is expected to appear in court on March 18, facing a murder charge.
Police sources confirm that he has admitted to shooting Hove and has stated that he does not require legal representation.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities have not yet disclosed the full circumstances surrounding the incident. Muradzikwa is currently being held at Donnington Police Station.
Hove’s family has dismissed the possibility that her death was accidental. During her burial in Mataruse Village, Mberengwa, on March 16, relatives insisted that she was deliberately targeted rather than being caught in crossfire.
Hove was a dedicated officer in the all-female CID Lozikeyi homicide unit, recognized for her commitment to law enforcement. Her death has sparked shock and outrage, with calls for a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the shooting.
Authorities have yet to provide further details as investigations continue.
