Man Arrested for Triple Murder in Hurungwe After Week-Long Manhunt
A 32-year-old man from Glen View 7 has been sentenced to nine months in prison by the Harare Magistrates’ Court for posing as a police officer.
The court heard that on an unspecified date, Ishmael Madara, wearing a full police uniform, stopped Victor Simbarashe Mudhara, who was driving his maroon Mercedes-Benz along First Street and Samora Machel Avenue in Harare.
Madara accused Mudhara of using a cellphone while driving and entered the vehicle, claiming he could “assist” in resolving the issue.
However, Mudhara became suspicious, particularly since his car windows were tinted. He suggested stopping at a nearby police checkpoint for verification, but Madara insisted on heading to ZRP Harare Central. Instead, he attempted to divert the car elsewhere and became aggressive, threatening to detain Mudhara.
Sensing danger, Mudhara drove to ZRP General Headquarters and reported the incident. Upon questioning, Madara failed to produce a police identity card and attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended. Authorities later confiscated the fake police uniform.
