Man Arrested for Triple Murder in Hurungwe After Week-Long Manhunt
Police have confirmed the arrest of 37-year-old Trymore Tore, who is accused of committing three murders in Mubairacheni Village, Hurungwe, on February 16.
Tore, who had initially been mistakenly reported as arrested after allegedly killing his wife, niece, and the village head, was finally captured on Sunday, February 24, after evading authorities for over a week.
According to police reports, he had been hiding in dense bushes near his home to avoid being caught. When officers eventually closed in on his location, Tore reportedly attempted to take his own life by repeatedly stabbing himself in the chest and neck with an Okapi knife.
Despite his self-inflicted injuries, law enforcement managed to restrain and arrest him. He was immediately taken to Karoi District Hospital, where he is receiving treatment under heavy police guard.
Authorities have yet to disclose the motive behind the gruesome killings. However, locals suggest that an ongoing domestic dispute between Tore and his wife may have triggered the violence.
It remains unclear why his 17-year-old niece was also killed, as she had merely visited the home to watch a movie. Tragically, she had no idea of the danger that awaited her.
The third victim, village head Kuwesu Musawu (53), was allegedly murdered while trying to mediate the conflict between Tore and his wife.
The victims were discovered in different locations:
The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed Tore’s arrest in an official statement, explaining that he was found near his homestead and had attempted to resist arrest by stabbing himself. An Okapi knife was recovered from the scene.
Earlier media reports suggested that Tore had been captured in a rural area under Chief Chundu, approximately 70km north of Karoi town, while attempting to find food.
The case remains under investigation as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the horrific murders.
