Scottland Receive Boost as Billiat Returns for CAPS United Clash
Harare – Zimbabwean footballer Khama Billiat is reportedly facing financial difficulties, with an outstanding debt of nearly R400,000 in South Africa threatening his assets.
According to City Press, the former Kaizer Chiefs star owes Standard Bank approximately R372,066 from an overdraft facility granted in 2020. Despite making payments until 2023, he failed to meet his monthly instalments of R80,000 to R90,000, leading to legal action.
Efforts to serve him with a court summons from the Johannesburg High Court have been unsuccessful, as Billiat is no longer residing in South Africa. Attempts to get a response from his representatives have also been unfruitful.
Despite financial troubles in South Africa, Billiat remains Zimbabwe’s top-earning footballer. After leaving Kaizer Chiefs, he joined Yadah FC for the 2024 season, earning around R95,500 (US$5,000) per month.
Following the expiration of his contract in December 2024, Billiat signed with Scottland FC, where he now reportedly earns R108,800 (US$6,000) monthly, maintaining his position as the highest-paid player in Zimbabwe’s Premier Soccer League.
