A tragic incident occurred on Kazungula Road, approximately 40 kilometers from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, when a Toyota Isis vehicle collided with a sub-adult female elephant.
The accident resulted in one fatality and five injuries.
According to reports, the driver attempted to overtake a stationary vehicle displaying hazard lights, unaware that it had stopped to avoid the same elephant.
The collision propelled the vehicle 100 meters into the bush, trapping all six occupants inside.
Authorities euthanized the injured elephant to recover the deceased.
The incident highlights the complexities of human-wildlife conflicts and the need for coexistence strategies to mitigate such encounters.
