ICT Revolutionises Service Delivery in Local Authorities

Local authorities in Zimbabwe received 250 star link kits from the Ministry of ICT as part of the launch of the Implementation of Minimum Service Delivery Standards. This move aims to revolutionize service delivery in the country.

The donation is part of a broader effort by the government to accelerate the digital transformation of local governance under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa. Addressing officials at the event, Minister Mavetera emphasized the importance of connectivity in driving inclusive national development.

“This donation represents far more than just advanced technology, it embodies our unwavering commitment under the visionary leadership of President ED Mnangagwa to ensure no Zimbabwean and no community is left behind in the digital age,” said Hon. Mavetera.

She described the move as “a tangible step towards fulfilling the promise of a modern, connected and efficient Zimbabwe.”

Hon. Mavetera further highlighted the government’s unified approach to development, citing cross-ministerial collaboration as essential to effective service delivery.

“The donation signifies the crucial partnership, a partnership operating firmly with the whole-of-cabinet approach championed by our President ED Mnangagwa. Our ministries understand that seamless service delivery, effective governance and national development hinge on breaking down silos and working collaboratively,” she said.

She added that the donation would have a transformative impact across the country.
“The 250 Starlink kits donated to local authorities will revolutionarise service delivery nationwide,” said Hon. Mavetera.

Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Hon. Daniel Garwe, welcomed the development and praised the ICT Ministry for its role in boosting national connectivity.

“This will go a long way in realising the ultimate goal. Our sub-national offices shall also be taken on board in connectivity, as they shall play a pivotal role in monitoring and analysing data on the dashboard,” said Hon. Garwe.

Following the ceremony, an official from Nemakonde Rural District Council expressed enthusiasm about the new tools, emphasizing the practical benefits of improved internet access.

“This donation will go a long way in assisting us in the provision of service delivery. The provision of dashboards will enable us to monitor progress and updating data,” said the official.

The initiative forms part of Zimbabwe’s broader digital transformation strategy, aimed at ensuring universal internet access and enhancing efficiency across all levels of government.
