Dorcas Moyo Awarded Brand-New Toyota Fortuner by Sir Wicknell Chivayo Following Social Media Attacks

Gospel artist Dorcas Moyo has been rewarded with a brand-new Toyota Fortuner by Sir Wicknell Chivayo after she was targeted in a social media attack.

A recent controversy involving Moyo has highlighted the growing intolerance in Zimbabwe’s political landscape, sparking widespread cyberbullying against the award-winning artist.

Moyo, known for her inspiring gospel music, faced severe online insults after sharing her popular chart-topping song, Asi Zvichakona, a track released more than five years ago.

What was initially intended to be an uplifting and faith-affirming message was unfortunately turned into a political battleground.

The song, which emphasizes unwavering faith in God and the belief that no evil will succeed, was initially celebrated for its powerful message.

However, it quickly became embroiled in political discourse as online critics began to associate it with political figures, leading to a backlash.

The hateful rhetoric and cyberbullying that followed took a personal toll on Moyo, whose only “crime” was sharing a song she had worked hard to produce and promote in the past.

In response to the vitriol Moyo endured, a supporter—Sir Wicknell Chivayo, known for his unabashed support of Zimbabwe’s ruling party, ZANU PF—expressed his outrage over the online attacks.

He condemned the political intolerance displayed by many Zimbabweans and emphasized the need for maturity in accepting the country’s political realities.

“We must first be politically mature and accept that ZANU PF is and will always be the ruling party,” he said, asserting that the party’s pro-democracy and developmental policies have earned it the support of many Zimbabweans, including himself.

Sir Chivayo, who voiced his disapproval of the personal attacks on Moyo, expressed his admiration for her talent and resilience in the face of adversity.

“I was deeply hurt by the online insults against Dorcas Moyo,” he stated, highlighting the unnecessary political overtones attached to her music. “In the face of humiliation and persecution, God will raise you up.”

As a gesture of support, Sir Chivayo offered a substantial reward to Moyo for her perseverance. He announced that Moyo would receive a brand-new 2025 Toyota Fortuner 2.4 GD6, fully paid for at an Exquisite Car Dealership.

Additionally, he pledged a cash gift of $20,000 for her to use for petrol and to treat herself at the salon, recognizing the toll the cyberbullying had taken on her.

The support for Moyo is seen as a reminder of the challenges faced by public figures in Zimbabwe, where political divisions often spill over into personal attacks.

It also underscores the complex relationship between art, politics, and public perception in the country.

While Moyo’s song was initially intended as a source of inspiration and spiritual upliftment, it was unfortunately overshadowed by political tensions.

As Zimbabwe continues to navigate its complex political landscape, the incident with Moyo serves as a cautionary tale of how easily public figures can be drawn into contentious debates.

Despite the attacks, Moyo’s talent and faith continue to shine through, and her resilience has earned her the admiration of many.

In the words of Sir Chivayo, “Zvedenga hazvirwiswi” – what is meant for good will ultimately prevail, no matter how much it is fought against.

Despite the cyberbullying and political controversy, Moyo’s strength and dedication to her music will continue to inspire others.
