DJ Ollah 7, a popular podcaster and former Star FM presenter, has revealed that he is receiving death threats following a contentious interview with rapper Holy Ten, which aired earlier this week.
The interview, which has stirred considerable debate in Zimbabwe’s entertainment circles, saw Holy Ten launch harsh criticisms against several fellow artists, including Mama Vee, a NAMA nominee, who has since initiated legal action against the rapper.
The backlash from the interview appears to have extended beyond Holy Ten himself, with DJ Ollah 7 now finding himself at the center of the storm.
Taking to social media on Saturday, Ollah 7 shared that he had been targeted with threatening messages, though he did not specify the individuals behind the threats.
Despite the intimidation, Ollah 7 made it clear that he would not flee from law enforcement and remained resolute in his stance as a journalist simply doing his job.
“I will never evade the police. I am a law-abiding citizen and an accredited journalist who is simply doing his job.
Sending death threats to me will not make it easier. Why not face the person who even asked to be sued publicly because he claims to have the evidence?” DJ Ollah 7 stated on his Facebook page.
His post prompted a wave of responses from Zimbabweans, some offering support while others criticized the nature of his podcast.
Several commenters urged him to focus on discussing more substantial, nation-building topics rather than engaging in entertainment gossip.
One user, Surprise Poterai, advised Ollah 7 to shift his podcast’s focus toward matters of national importance, while another, Ruevimbo Kadomanga, expressed light-hearted concern for the podcaster’s safety.
Despite the mounting pressure and threats, DJ Ollah 7 received messages of solidarity from some followers, with one commenter, Real with KudKad, asserting that he should not be intimidated and that his right to report without fear must be respected.
Others questioned the journalistic ethics of some of the content on the podcast, with Mildret Eneta Nyadome pointing out that some of the personal questions asked during interviews could be seen as damaging to people’s reputations.
As the situation continues to unfold, the public remains divided, with some supporting Ollah 7’s right to free speech, while others call for a more responsible approach to journalism in the entertainment industry.
