Beer Dispute Turns Fatal

Chegutu police have arrested three men who fatally assaulted their beer mate over an unknown argument in a bar.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the tragic incident.

“Police in Chegutu have arrested Peter Jaungeti (34), Amidu Tembo (31) and Steven Katirange (36) in connection with a murder case that occurred at Rainbowend Farm on 26 July 2025.

“The suspects and their accomplices, Itayi Urayayi (21) alias Chomi, and Shame Kondo (who are still at large), allegedly assaulted the victim, Kudakwashe Kandeya (20), with a hoe, log, and sjambok after an argument during a beer-drinking spree.

The victim died on the spot,” said Commissioner Nyathi.

He said in a related matter, Police in Madlambuzi have arrested Thabelo Sibanda (21) in connection with a murder case.

“He allegedly stabbed Somandla Ngwenya (19) on the arm and thigh with a knife after an argument over a girlfriend at Mafeha Business Centre, Malalume area, on 25 July 2025. The victim also died on the spot.”
