Battle of Platinum Miners, Relegation Drama & Title Twists This Weekend

Castle Lager Premier Soccer League newcomers Scottland are bracing for their toughest challenge yet in a defining Match Day 27 encounter against Harare giants Dynamos at Rufaro Stadium on Saturday, 30 August 2025.

The high-flying debutants have taken the league by storm with an impressive campaign and are determined to secure a win to keep their championship aspirations on track.

Scottland currently trail league leaders Simba Bhora by just a single point, with Simba sitting on 53 points. Any slip-up at Rufaro could derail their title push.

Dynamos, on the other hand, find themselves in a dire situation—fighting to avoid relegation. The once-dominant outfit is languishing in 17th position, a shadow of their former self.

Despite their struggles, Dynamos have found form at a critical juncture, winning their last three matches. They now sit just three points away from climbing out of the relegation zone and will be desperate to continue their resurgence.

Also on Saturday, attention will turn to the “Battle of the Platinum Miners” at Baobab Stadium, where Ngezi Platinum Stars face FC Platinum.

While Ngezi still have a mathematical chance of claiming the title, they remain 10 points adrift of Simba Bhora. FC Platinum, meanwhile, are on a poor run, having lost four matches in a row, though they still hold 40 points from 25 games.

Other fixtures scheduled for Saturday include Bikita Minerals versus TelOne at Gibbo Stadium, GreenFuel taking on log leaders Simba Bhora at GreenFuel Arena, and MWOS hosting Chicken Inn at Ngoni Stadium.

Sunday will see the spotlight shift to Barbourfields Stadium as Highlanders face Yadah in what is expected to be a fiery contest.

Bosso have reappointed renowned Dutch tactician Hendrikus Pieter de Jongh—affectionately known as “The Dutch Nomad”—in a bid to revive their fortunes.

Highlanders currently sit in ninth place, just four points above the drop zone, making the match crucial for their survival hopes.

Yadah head into the tie clouded in controversy after a club official allegedly assaulted their goalkeeper following a 3–2 loss to Ngezi Platinum. The matter has since been reported to the Premier Soccer League by the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe.

Elsewhere on Sunday, CAPS United—10th on the table with 31 points—square off against ZPC Kariba at Rufaro.

Triangle United are set to battle Herentals College at Gibbo, while bottom-placed Kwekwe United, who appear destined for relegation after a single season in the top flight, host Manica Diamonds at Ascot Stadium.
