Zimbabwe Lose Shumba to Hamstring Injury, Turn to Experienced Kaia Before India Series

Zimbabwe’s preparations for their upcoming three-game T20 International series versus India have hit a snag, with batsman Milton Shumba ruled unavailable due to a hamstring problem.

Medical imaging revealed that the 25-year-old left-handed batter suffered a right hamstring tear, sidelining him for the full duration of the series against the current ICC Men’s T20 World Cup holders.

To fill the gap, veteran opening batter Innocent Kaia has been brought into the squad ahead of today’s first encounter at the Harare Sports Club.

This marks Kaia’s recall to the national T20 side for the first time since his appearance against India at the same ground back in July 2024.

Zimbabwe selectors are counting on Kaia to bolster their batting order as the Chevrons aim to make a competitive start against the global titleholders.
