Wicknell Chivayo’s Workers’ Day Gift- Luxury Vehicles For ZITF Leaders

Prominent businessman Wicknell Chivayo has gifted two brand-new 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 series VXR vehicles, each valued at US$200,000, to the leadership of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Company in a surprise announcement during the final days of the 65th edition of the trade exhibition.

The gesture, described by Chivayo as a token of appreciation for “exceptional leadership,” was made in recognition of ZITF Board Chairman Mr. Busisa Moyo and CEO Dr. Nicholas Ndebele, whose efforts, he said, elevated the trade fair to “new heights.”

The announcement came on Workers’ Day, underscoring Chivayo’s praise for the ZITF team’s work ethic and commitment to national economic development.

“Subject to your Board and Principals approving, please proceed to Faramatsi Motors and see Farai, the vehicles are ready for collection and fully paid for,” Chivayo said in a public statement.

The high-profile donation follows what has been widely regarded as one of the most successful editions of the ZITF to date. Held under the theme “Industrialisation: Crafting an Integrated Economic Landscape,” this year’s “Blue Sapphire Edition” hosted over 800 exhibitors from more than 30 countries, including participation from both local and international stakeholders.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Mozambican President Daniel Francisco Chapo officially opened the fair, signaling its strategic importance in regional trade and investment.

Chivayo’s donation has sparked discussion across business and political circles, with some praising the magnate’s generosity and others raising questions over corporate influence and transparency in public-private partnerships.

No official response from ZITF or its board has been issued yet regarding the acceptance of the vehicles.

The development adds to Chivayo’s growing public profile as a benefactor of government-aligned institutions and high-level events.
