Seven Executives Arrested Over Fake Alcohol Production in Harare

HARARE, Zimbabwe – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of seven company executives in connection with the alleged production and distribution of counterfeit alcoholic beverages.

The arrests occurred on 30 June 2025 at Arlington Industrial Park in Hatfield, Harare, where authorities say the suspects were operating an illegal manufacturing operation that used a mixture of ethanol, water, and flavouring substances to produce imitation alcohol for sale across the country.

ZRP spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi identified the accused as:

  • Praveen Kumarreddy (28)

  • Manohar Reddy Yarraguntla (39)

  • Amaranath Reddy Gundra (24)

  • Srikanth Reddy Jonnala (39)

  • Ramesh Yepuri (37)

  • Sekhar Reddy Kambam (34)

  • Yugandlar Reddy Samala (34)

The seven are scheduled to appear in court on 2 July 2025, facing charges related to the illegal manufacture and distribution of alcoholic products.

In addition, 25 employees found at the site were fined for operating without valid food handler’s health certificates.

Commissioner Nyathi urged all alcohol producers and retailers to ensure full compliance with Zimbabwean laws and licensing requirements. He also cautioned consumers to remain vigilant when purchasing alcoholic beverages, warning that illicit products pose serious risks to health and safety.
