Abusive actions by a possessive Gwayi man has landed himself before the courts after he burnt his wife’s clothes and wheat meal after she went to church unannounced.
Out of anger, the offender (45) ransacked his home burning his children and wife’s clothes.
NPA said on 2 March 2025, at around 1400 hours the offender came and found out that his 44-year-old woman had left his children unattended.
“He became upset and took his wife’s and some baby clothes and 20 kilogrammes of wheat from the kitchen.
“He piled them all in the yard before setting them on fire. Shortly thereafter, he left for his workplace,” said NPA.
When the wife returned home she was told by her daughter about the ordeal.
Police units nabbed the offender.
“He was sentenced to pay a fine of USD 100 or three months imprisonment in default of payment. In addition, one month was suspended on condition of restitution of USD 60.”
