Palestine Embassy Condemns Escalating Israeli Airstrikes on Gaza
The Embassy of the State of Palestine has strongly condemned the intensifying Israeli airstrikes on Gaza, which have escalated with the deployment of new, highly destructive bombs.
In the past ten days, these strikes have claimed the lives of at least 1,042 Palestinians, including 322 children. The embassy has denounced these attacks as a severe breach of international humanitarian law, accusing Israel of showing a flagrant disregard for human life and committing war crimes against the Palestinian people.
Alongside airstrikes, Israeli ground troops have extended their operations, capturing additional territory in northern Gaza, displacing thousands of people in the process.
The ongoing blockade, which was imposed by Israel on March 2, has worsened an already critical humanitarian crisis, blocking access to vital resources such as food, water, fuel, and medicine.
Gaza is now on the brink of famine, as all 25 bakeries operated by the World Food Programme (WFP) have been forced to shut down due to a lack of supplies. This prolonged siege, now entering its 31st day, represents one of the most severe humanitarian crises in modern history.
Ambassador Tamer Almassri has condemned the widespread destruction in Gaza, which has left homes, hospitals, and schools in ruins. He also voiced strong disapproval of the targeting of medical staff, including members of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS), whose deaths and disappearances are clear violations of international law.
The embassy stated that the targeting of healthcare workers is a war crime that requires urgent investigation. The Palestinian leadership has called for independent inquiries into these violations and urged the international community to hold those responsible accountable.
