One Feared Dead in Accident on Harare-Mutoko Highway
A fatal road accident occurred earlier today along the Harare-Mutoko highway near Cornerstone, claiming the life of one person.
The incident involved a commuter omnibus, commonly known as a kombi, believed to have been traveling from Harare toward Mutoko. While the exact cause of the crash remains unclear, eyewitnesses who shared updates on social media indicated that the vehicle was en route to the eastern town when the accident occurred.
Although police have yet to issue an official statement, one person is reportedly feared dead at the scene.
A message widely circulated online urged those with relatives who may have boarded a kombi operated by “Tito” to check on their loved ones. The post, shared by ZimCeleb, read in part: “Mamukasei zvaitika izvezvi paCornerstone kombi yanga ichibva Harare yaita accident passport parikunzi pafa munhu 1. Kune vane hama dzekwira motor yaTito confirm kuti vari safe.”
Authorities are expected to release more information as investigations into the cause of the accident continue.
