NetOne CEO Delivering Closing Remarks at COP15
NetOne Group Chief Executive Officer Eng. Raphael Mushanawani has officially launched the 2025 NetOne Albun Honde Valley Marathon, describing the annual event as more than a sporting occasion — but a national movement promoting health, wellness, and community development.
Speaking during the press launch held this week, Eng. Mushanawani said the marathon, set against the scenic backdrop of Zimbabwe’s Eastern Highlands, continues to grow in both scale and impact, aligning strongly with the objectives of the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1).
“This is not just a marathon. It is a movement — a celebration of health, wellness, community spirit, and the breathtaking beauty of our Eastern Highlands,” he said.
The NetOne CEO emphasized that the marathon is designed to encourage physical fitness and mental well-being while also stimulating local tourism in Honde Valley, a region renowned for its lush hills, cascading waterfalls, and cool mountain air.
“Beyond the finish line, this event promotes local tourism by spotlighting the hidden gem that is Honde Valley — a paradise tucked within the majestic Eastern Highlands,” he added.
Supporting National Development Through Sport
Eng. Mushanawani said the company’s continued investment in the marathon reflects its broader commitment to the national vision of building a healthy, active, and united society.
He noted that the initiative dovetails with NDS1’s health and tourism pillars, underscoring that “a healthy nation is a productive nation.”
“Initiatives such as this marathon serve as vital platforms to encourage physical activity, mental wellness, and community unity,” he said.
The NetOne chief expressed gratitude to all sponsors, partners, and residents of Honde Valley for their continued support, describing them as “the heartbeat” of the event.
“Together, we are building something greater than a race — we are nurturing a tradition that celebrates resilience, unity, and the human spirit,” Eng. Mushanawani said.
He urged runners to take pride in representing the NetOne brand, saying their participation under the company’s banner symbolizes collective progress and national togetherness.
As preparations for the 2025 marathon intensify, Mushanawani encouraged participants and communities to view the race as a contribution toward a healthier and more sustainable Zimbabwe.
“Every step taken on this scenic route contributes to a larger goal — a healthier, more connected, and more sustainable Zimbabwe,” he said.
“Let’s run for health, for happiness, and for the love of this incredible land we call home.”
The 2025 NetOne Albun Honde Valley Marathon is expected to attract athletes and fitness enthusiasts from across the country and beyond, showcasing the fusion of sport, nature, and national pride under the theme: “One Banner, One Spirit, One Nation — One NetOne.”
